First Aid at Work (FAW)

Why do you need this course?

​

The 3-day FAW course is for those who may have to provide first aid when accidents, injuries and illnesses happen at work.

A 3 day course is best for a work place where a risk assessment has highlighted a higher risk of injury, is in a remote location or have employees with medical conditions not covered in an Emergency First Aid at Work course.

This course covers the following subjects as required by the HSE.

​

  • assessing a casualty and getting help

  • unresponsive and not breathing including use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

  • unresponsive and is breathing

  • choking

  • bleeding; serious and not so serious

  • shock

  • burns

  • poisoning

  • head injury

  • extreme tempretures ie hypothermia or heat exhaustion / heat stroke

  • bone injury, including spinal and injury to muscle or joint

  • seizures and their many causes

  • heart attack, angina attack

  • stroke

  • asthma attack

  • severe allergic reaction

  • diabetic emergency

  • monitoring a casualty

  • accident recording and reporting
